Logic Protect features flexible activation schemes. You can opt for:
- Online Activation
- Phone Activation
- Activation & Optional Online Verification
- Activation & Mandatory Online Verification
1. Online Activation
Online activation handles registration data and serial number verification upon first run. It sends query to activation server and gets back its directive to activate or block the software. When the user runs your software protected by Logic Protect for the first time, he is prompted for registration data. Once the necessary registration data is provided (name, passwords, serial number used in any combination) Logic Protect DLL generates a key file uniquely identifying user's computer (no personal information contained) and sends it to Activation Server. In response to key file Activation Server generates a license file, which is transmitted back to DLL. If the user's registration info is correct, DLL will activate the application, otherwise, application will run in trial or demo mode, or will shut down (developer decides which protection mode to choose).
2. Phone Software Activation
Phone activation is an ideal solution for those users, who do not have direct internet access or do not want your application to connect to activation server. Logic Protect generates a unique, OS-dependent PIN for every user and prompts to make a phone call to activation center. The user has to dictate the PIN and serial number to software activation service and in response get the Activation Code, generated on the basis of user-provided data.
3. Activation & Optional Online Verification
Online verification is a very effective feature that helps fighting license tampering and activation sharing. When the online verification mode is turned ON, Logic Protect dll will connect to the activation server and verify that the information stored in a license file on a local machine matches the information on the server. Moreover, if LP detects that the software was re-activated on a new computer, it will block the old activation code, so the application cannot be run on the old computer anymore.
4. Activation & Mandatory Online Verification
This is the most restrictive mode. It is similar to the previous protection mode; however
internet connection is a mandatory requirement. If Logic Protect DLL won't be able to connect to the Activation Server, application won't start or will be working in the Demo / Trial mode.
